Cycle Key Blanks

My computer keeps restarting?

Hey everyone,

My computer is a Compaq Evo D300v and for more than 3 months its been doing the same thing, restarting. It doesn't even go onto the blue page where your suppose to type in your password. My computer is "Windows Xp Professional" and its about 5 years old and i've lost the Xp cd to it, so i cant fix it with the cd. Please someone help, everytime it restarts it just goes to a blank black screen than restarts again.

One time i turned on the computer and it said " Bootblock Emergency Recovery Mode. The system flash ROM image has been corrupted. Please insert a ROMPaq diskette into drive A: and cycle the power on the system." I dont have any cds to fix it.

Also how do i go onto safe mode cause i tried all the F buttons on the top of the keyboard, and when i click F8 it doesn't work, one time i got the safe mode option by clicking random keys on my keyboard and i choose safe mode but it doesn't come in safe mode, it just keeps restarting.

PLEASE HELP ME.

The answer is very simple actually. Your computer does not get sufficient power.
The PSU (Power System Unit) cannot supply enough juice.
You can lighten the load by removing any USB devices attached that don't use an external mini-PSU/adaptor.
The message you got was from a corrupted BIOS memory table of your motherboard that used the backup BIOS image to restore it to its previous clean state.
By pressing F8 continuously (or is it F2 for Compaqs?) you can get in the Safe Mode.

Before that press DELETE upon Boot up, get inside your BIOS and load Optimized Defaults. Use the Up-Down arrows, TAB and ENTER to navigate.
Don't forget to save before youre done (Press Y and then ENTER)

Best of luck
