It's almost summer time and do you have your RV cover yet. On June 21 it will be the first day of summer and many of you will be heading off to the the woods, lakes and beaches of America. Some of you have your RVs stored away in storage yards and some of you are going to buy a new RV this summer. One way or another you will need a cover for your RV either a new one for that new RV or a replacement for the old cover that has seen better days. There are many reasons to be covering your RV's. The first thing that comes to mind is to protect your RV from the rains that contain chemicals that can corrode the aluminum and wreak havoc on your finish. The sun UV rays will also oxidize your finish and dry out your plastic and rubber parts in very little time. It only makes sense that if you plan to spend from $30.000.00 to $250,000.00 on your new RV that you should have no trouble spending a couple hundred on a cover to protect your investment. There are RV covers for all types of recreational vehicles including class A, class B, class C, travel trailers, 5th wheels, toy haulers, truck campers and pop up folding trailers.
When you go looking to get that new or replacement RV cover you should look for a cover that has good quality and warranty to stand behind it. You will find that there are a lot of RV cover suppliers out there and I think the best place to look is the Internet. Looking on the world wide web you will not only find all the cover styles, models and manufacturers also the right price and warranties to choose from. There is also lots of information about the products and types of materials the market is selling today.
The RV industry has been improving on there products every year and the materials have been changing with the new technology also. If you were to go looking for an RV cover at your local RV store you will have a limited supply to select from and the information will only be as good as the salesman's knowledge at that store. I myself think that the Internet has so much more to offer. If you have a question about a certain cover almost all the websites today have a customer services number or a click and ask button to get any information you need. If you need more information just type your question in the search box and any one of the search engines will search out your answer for you.
Once you find a RV cover you like you can price shop on Google, BizRate, Shopzilla, Nextag, Pricline and more. Having RVs is a lot of work to keep them looking good you have to wash them and take care of the finish and external parts, if you were to cover your RV you would find out that there would be a lot less work keeping it looking good. So the little time it takes to cover is well worth it. Here's a little tip on how to install your RV cover.
How do you install an RV cover?
RV Covers can be installed WITHOUT climbing on the roof of your RV by utilizing stepladders. Depending on the vehicle, you may be able to save time by climbing on the roof. Below you will find a description of the process as told by one of my friends. Please note that extreme caution should be taken when climbing on top of your RV. RV Cover installation gets easier with practice. Most full size coaches can be covered and secured in under 10 minutes.
1 ) Place the Cover at the rear of the R.V. next to the ladder. Find the front of the cover on the ground.
2 ) Lower all antennas. PAD ALL SHARP EDGES AND SHARP CORNERS. Pad anything that could snag or tear a hole in the cover. Remove the antenna if possible.
3 ) Pull the front of the cover up with you as you climb up the ladder.. Once on top of the R.V., pull as much as you can towards the top, creating a pile of cover next to your feet. Once the pile gets big enough, stretch it towards the front of the RV.
4 ) Once a strip of cover is created, start at the front by pacing the cover over the corners, working your way towards the back, allowing the cover to drape over the sides of the R.V.
5 ) Once you are at the rear of the R.V., place the cover over the corner (opposite of the ladder). Climb down the ladder pulling the cover down with you. Put ladder cap (if needed) in place prior to covering the rear bumper.
6 ) Once you are on the ground, start adjusting the cover all they way around the R.V. First secure the rear corners under the R.V. and make your way around the front to do the same with the front corners.
