how to light the furnace on mypop up camper?
Can anyone tell me how the furnace on my pop up camper operates. It's a 2004 fleetwood pop up with an Atwood Hydro Flame 7900-II 8000-II series furnace. At least that's the manual that came with the pop up. The instructions are not very good and I don't know if i have to light something or just turn the thermostat up.
Rusty that is how I light my hot Water Heater. Mark, it sounds like that is exactly what i need to do. Although if we are hooked up to electric it should run off the electric not the battery, correct? How long will my propane last if we only run it at night?
The Atwood 7900/8900 furnaces have automatic electronic ignition. All you need to do is have a good LP gas and 12V/DC supply and set the thermostat at the desired temperature. The electronic ignition will light the furnace and turn on the circulating fan as needed.
If the furnace is not lighting it could be:
1. Thermostat settings (not set for "HEAT", temperature too low to trigger furnace)
2. Furnace "service" switch turned to off position (check behind the access panel)
3. No or low voltage (check battery charge, power center is turned on and breakers enabled)
4. No propane flow (tank or regulator turned off, out of gas, regulator set wrong or damaged)
It may also take a while for propane to make its way throughout the lines from the regulator to the furnace if you've had your tanks disconnected.
If none of this works you should bring the camper to an RV service center for evaluation and repair.
