I want to sue my contractor but don't know what kind of lawyer I need?
I recently hired Diamond industries of New Jersey to build a deck for my home. I previously used them for a roofing job and they made some holes in my ceilings but rectified the situation quickly so I hired them again. After failing the township inspection 2 times, they finally got the plans and deck footing right and built the deck, but not before destroting my lawn and garden. Then, they had to paint the deck... they painted in the rain and all of the seperated and the colors ran and left a multi- blue and white colored residue with paint bubbles that are peeling off all over my deck. In addition, they used a spray gun to paint, so there is a blue mist all over my white house, my bush is painted blue, they painted a metal awning without primer, they cracked a couple of shingles and my sidewalk and entire surrounding area of the deck is blue... but the deck is missing patches of paint where they missed. I wantto hire a professional to fix this properly,, legally, can I do that?
Usually cases like this are handled by a general practice attorney. If this were me, I'd call the local bar association or the BBB and get some referrals.
Depending on the repair figures, you may be able to use Small Claims Court. If your estimates are under the state's maximum allowable, it would be much cheaper to go this way.
