What does this ordinance mean?
I have a small pace Utility Trailer (6ft x 12 ft) parked on the street in front my house. I saw a code enforcement guy looking at it, so I looked up the ordinance to see if it could be parked on the street. I say no, boyfriend says it is ok. It weighs only 2000lbs and has no plate becuase I never registered it since I use it for storage only.
It shall be unlawful for any person to park Any Vehicle or motor vehicle, licensed or required to be licensed with license plates exceeding six thousand (6,000) pounds gross weight, or having a license prefix of "B," "C," "M," or "P," or trailers of any kind, tractor trailers, cargo containers, vehicles containing three (3) or more axles, boat or boat trailers or school or private buses on any street, including any part of the street between the curb, or the lateral line of the roadway and the adjacent property line, dedicated and designed for public use within the city.
The phrase: "or trailers of any kind" means that your trailer can't be left on the public street. That means the gross weight and the license do not matter. If you weren't written up yet, consider yourself fortunate. I'd suggest finding a place on your own property, or somewhere else that is not a public roadway, to store the trailer.
