I got my cat a Breakaway collar, and she pulls it off?
She's scratched it off three times now (i got it three days ago) and it's just been in my backyard, but I don't want her to do it somewhere else and lose the collar. How do I get her to not pull it off? It's not a bad quality collar, and I can't give her a regular collar and keep her inside until she gets used to it, then switch to a breakaway. (that's what other people said on YA)
I had an issue yesterday with one of my cats and her breakaway collar where she ripped it off. If the cat is not happy with the collar, and knows she can take it off, then she will. You're better off buying a similar collar to the breakaway one, but with the "belt" latch. Sometimes taking her outside on a leash that's wrapped around a tree hooked onto the collar will help her to get used to it, and you can watch how she reacts to it. Always be careful when letting your cat outside. Hope this helps!
