Drifting in a FWD car (braking system) 96 Toyota Corolla?
I am a newbie when it comes to knowing anything about cars.
When regular breaks are applied, is it being applied to all wheels, front, or back?
Same question for the emergency brake (the one you pull).
How do these braking systems work?
When applying the regular brakes, all wheels apply their brakes. Although the front wheels get more braking force than the rear brakes. That's because when braking, all of the car's weight moves to te front because it has momentuem and wants to keep moving. So the front wheels have more traction because of his under braking so that's why most of the braking power goes to the front wheels. How much power exactly depends on the drive train. On a fwd car, up to 80% of the braking power will need to go to the front because if the engine is trying to turn the front wheels, the front brakes will have to work harder.
As for the emergency brake, when you activate it, only the two rear brakes are activated.
