what is the best way to handle crank phone calls?
Register your phone number at https://www.donotcall.gov/ on the National Do Not Call list. This will stop telemarketers and the like from calling.
If it is a specific one number that keeps calling, you can probably call the phone company and have them block that number from calling you.
I've also heard if you tell automated telemarketing machines to hold on when they call your house, just leave them on hold until you hear the dial tone again, it somehow throws their machine into thinking that your number is not a good one to call. After a couple times of that they don't call back. I haven't tried this one though.
