Double Hinged

Double Hinged
I dislocated my elbow and tore my lateral collateral ligament. How long does it take to heal without surgery?

I'm trying a non operative approach currently (as my doc recommended that). I have a double hinged brace on preventing me from extending my arm fully, can't lift more than 5 lbs...and need to be able to lift more than 50 lbs to be able to go back to work. How long is this going to take? Is it likely I will need to have surgery?

The dislocation may have weakened other ligaments and tendons in your elbow so make sure you follow the docs orders and keep a brace on. Your injury is not serious enough for surgery. It would actually take longer to heal if you went that route because you would need physical therapy afterwards. It could take anywhere from 1 week to a month to get back to lifting 50 lbs, but mostly depends on how strong of a person you already are.
