12 HP I/C Briggs and stratton riding mower. Why when I shake the mower a little or go over bumps it stalls?
I cleaned the carb, replaced spark plug, air filter is clean, fresh oil and gas tank was drain cleaned with fresh fuel. Whenever I grab the steering wheel and shake the whole mower back and forth even a little it starts to start and if i do it a little more it will actually completly stall out. Same thing happens when your going over bumps, just simple movements it takes to mow a law. Another unrelated question I have also has to do with the drive belt, before I replaced it the brake would work fine to stop the mower so I could shift gears, now that I replaced it the mower does not stop at all which is dangerous. It's the same size, I compared it to the old one, the only difference was the old one was black rubber and the new one is some kind of grey material, its still considered a drive belt though for a murray, I bought it from lowes.
I had the seat safety switch but it was all rusty and beyond repair so i just tied the wires together. Works just as fine that way.
do you have a seat safety switch? if you do are you activating it when you shake the mower?
