Egg drop lab: Help please, 20-30 ft drop?
this is not like the other drops ive been trying to reaserch. This one is more open, yet a lot higher of a drop, 20-30 ft, the teacher wont tell us where. Any good ideas will do, ive seen a lot of the straw ones, yet i really dont think it will work, nor do i think i would be able to build something like that
Requirements:
1) any materials can be used (some exceptions)
2) no gas/electric power motors
3) must be under 2kg (=roughly 4.4 lbs)
4) must survive the drop, and have a way to take out the egg without breaking it.
ideas please, this variant is not your average one. Some that i have thought of using as a start is a styrofoam cup filled with paper stuffin/liquid. another was a container with some type of parachute on it. maybe using fishing wire. Thanks!
I have tossed eggs out of a second story window onto the grass lawn without them breaking they bounce. Once it just bounced and rolled toward the sidewalk and broke on the sidewalk because the drop from the grass to the sidewalk was about 1/2 inch.
The second story is about 12 feet so for 20-30 you will need a good soft lawn with thick grass.
Reading the above, a small parachute would allow you to drop it from and airplane miles high onto grass without it breaking.
