My light meter works with the wrong voltage battery?
I recently bought a slr camera and also purchased a few wein cell batteries, 1.35 voltage. There was a battery already inside, an alkaline which voltage is 1.5. The light meter works with the alkaline battery but not the wein cell, which is the correct voltage for the camera. Since the voltage is wrong the light meter might be giving me the wrong reading. Anyone know why the light meter won't work for the correct voltage battery?
Its possible that the previous owner had the meter recalibrated for the 1.5V battery. If the camera originally used a PX625 or PX13 mercury battery, both 1.35V, then you'll probably need to have the meter recalibrated for the WeinCell MRB625 1.34V Zinc/Air battery.
I suggest Garry's Camera Repair - http://www.garryscamera.com He is very reasonable and will do a complete CLA - Clean, Lubricate, Adjust - for about $50.00 depending on the make and model of your camera. That includes calibrating the meter for the 1.35V MRB625 battery. You can check his site to see if he works on your particular camera.
