Replacement Trailer
I have a Utility Trailer with a flat 4 plug connector. How do I figure out which wire is which?
The original connector is gone and the wires from the old trailer are different colors that the replacement connector I bought at auto parts store. Thanks.
Make sure of your ground.
Then, take a hot wire, maybe just a plain wire attached to the + pole of your battery and touch each of the points of the connector. See which light comes on with each point and what color wire is coming out of that point on the connector.
If that doesn't work, sometimes it is easier to just run new wires from a new connector to new wires. That way you know exactly what goes where and that you have good wiring.
