How Do You Handle A Speeding Ticket?
After 45 yrs. of driving my husband got a ticket for speeding. The Indiana Highway Patrol Officer said he was going 14 miles over the speed limit. So because my husband has NEVER had a ticket before, they offered him a 6 month program. Here is the deal. He would pay $191.50 & not get another ticket for speeding for 6 mos. After that time the speeding charge would NOT go on his driving record & all would be dismissed. Since we have never had to deal with this before we wanted to know if our auto insurance would go up. Would we be better off just paying the ticket of $128.50 & just taking the points on the driving record? If getting 1 ticket wouldn't impact my husbands driving record then why pay the extra $63? What would you do? We live in Indiana & my husband is 60 yrs. old. We have also been insured ( home & vehicles) with State Farm Ins. for many yrs. Thanks for your suggestions! Rev. Joie
After this many years of driving and this being his first ticket it's obvious he's not a speeder. I would go with the 128.50 and get it over with. First time might not affect the insurance.
