Water pressure now comes out of regular bathtub faucet instead of shower head?
I live in a a VERY OLD apartment that the landlord doesn't help much with repairs. Our shower is broke. When you pull up the knob to get the water to come out of the shower head, the water "explodes" out of the regular bathtub faucet and comes out of the shower head like it would come out of a regular water hose. Is this something we can fix on our own, or will we need to hire a plumber since our landlord isn't helping?
Hi there:
The first thing you can try is to clean faucet. There is a thing in the faucet called a diver-tor that sends the water up to the shower head. Its the the knob you pulled on. If it gets too dirty or corroded it will not stop water coming the faucet instead of going up to shower.
You could replace the whole faucet, usually the best solution for
about $5 and up. Just turn the whole faucet counter clockwise
to unscrew it then take it in to homedepot and have them pick them a faucet and possibly a different nipple( the pipe that its
threaded onto). Use pipe thread compound or teflon tape
on the male threads.
