Anyone Familiar with the trailer wiring on a 1999 ML320?
I have bought a universal Tail Light converter kit/trailer wiring kit.
I took a look at the wires located next to the fuel filler tube and can't figure it out. I plan on not using the outlet that exists in the ML--in fact I already cut it out and now I just have exposed free wires.
All I need to know is which color wire corresponds with the right and left turn signals as well as the tail lights.
It really isn't too hard to determine. All you need is any 12 volt light bulb with a single filament. Tie the case of the bulb to the chassis or to the wiring harness ground if you know that. Then put first one turn signal on and try each wire in turn to the base contact of the bulb. When you touch the right wire it will begin flashing. Switch to the other turn signal and go through the wires again until you locate the one which causes the light to flash. The parking light and brake light wires can be located the same way.
