Window Crank Control
Computer speaker help?
I had to use my System Recovery CD on my computer today because I got a bunch of viruses. This naturally wiped out everything I had saved. I'm trying to rebuild my music library, but I have a problem. The speakers are on, clearly. And the media player is cranked as loud as it will go, and it shows that a song is playing. However, the buttons located at the top of my keyboard don't work. I can stop a song, pause it, etc. But the sound buttons don't work, and it's all the way down. Thus, I can't hear any sounds from my computer. I run Windows xp, by the way. I don't remember that I had to configure anything when I first bought the computer. And why would some of the controls work, but not the sound controls? I need help! LOL Is there somewhere on my computer to go to that will fix it? Thanks!
Sounds like (pardon the pun) you don't have your soundcard installed.
You should be able to find out your soundcard manufacturer (some sort of documentation with your computer) and either download the drivers either from their website or your computer manufacturer's site (if it's different).
Alternatively, you may have a disk named "resources and drivers" or something similar - it should be on there.
