Trailer Tire promblems?
I have a trailer tire with leak. Ive had it repaired several times. But they never have found a leak. I have even looked on when they put it in the dunk tank, no bubbles. They have put new stem valves in and also cleaned up the rim. It still need air every 5 days. Any Ideas ??
These are good approaches to finding the problem.
I assume the removed the tire and ran a rag through the inside, as well as a good visual inspection.
You need to air the tire up 10% over what tire shows.
using very soapy water,
Check the obvious tread areas.
Check sidewalls, especially around the bead for seep holes (you will get a lot of tiny bubbles) / If the bead is leaking where the tire meets the wheel, and it is clean and smooth, I would reccomend using what is called "Fry Lube" (tire shop should know what that is, not a soap but a grease used to mount tires)
New valve stems were installed already, but I would check those again along with the valve core.
carefully check the whole wheel. If it is a steel wheel, check everything from the bead seating area to the welds on both sides. On an aluminum rim, check everything, stress cracks can pop up even around the lug nut areas (from experience) check for pinholes (again, very soapy water) on the whole wheel.
