I have a MIDI to USB adapter cord, but what can I do with it?
I have a keyboard and Finale Notepad, so what can I do using the cord?
If you have a Digital Audio Workstation (daw) you can hook up a device with MIDI output(such as keyboards) and record music electronically. I don't know about alot of DAWS but I do know that ones such as cakewalk music creator, cakewalk sonar, and protools (m-powerd, le, or hd) will let you do this. There is a free sound recording software called Audacity that you can download for free off the internet, but I dont know if it supports MIDI. Once you have your music electronically recorded, you can change the sound(violin,tuba,clarinet),or change the speed, etc... from within the software.
Note: MIDI is not audio. Audio is a sound such as a cd or tape. MIDI is strictly digital information that is interpreted by the software, and the software creates the sound.
